Our Story
Since 2008 Metamora Mennonite Church is a partner through Mennonite Mission Network with six Mennonite churches on the North (Caribbean) Coast of Colombia, a South American country twice the size of Texas. A partnership implies complete equality. We accept the hospitality of our Colombian friends, and go there to make and strengthen friendships, worship together, and to humbly listen, and learn what God is doing in another country which we have come to love. We experience the Gospel through their eyes and in their context. We learn about Colombia’s past and present history. We bring ourselves and our testimonies of God’s faithfulness. We in turn welcome our friends to IL. They join and lead in our worship. Their perspective and ministry to us is life-giving. “We are,” as one of our Colombian friends said back in 2008, “one church together.”

In our “Coins for Colombia” project, we collect change, which we bring on 5th Sundays, to help provide food and Christmas presents for children in our partner churches.
